At the same time, light is intrinsically found in painting, since it is indispensable for the composition of the image: the play of light and shadow is the basis of drawing and, in its interaction with color, is the primordial aspect of painting, with a direct influence on factors such as modeling and relief. The incidence of light on the human eye produces visual impressions, so its presence is indispensable for the capture of art. Also, light can have a symbolic component, especially in religion, where this element has often been associated with divinity. Light in painting fulfills several objectives, both plastic and aesthetic: on the one hand, it is a fundamental factor in the technical representation of the work, since its presence determines the vision of the projected image, as it affects certain values such as color, texture and volume on the other hand, light has a great aesthetic value, since its combination with shadow and with certain lighting and color effects can determine the composition of the work and the image that the artist wants to project. Honestly the animated series did it really well. like how the gl with the cape and red shirt has nothing to do with the others. Or maybe maybe make it an alternative energy source and corp. And honestly if it was just the one universe the emotional spectrum would probably be my favorite addition to the story. That or they were making a new tangent comics or just imagine universe where everything is changed but the name. It’s like someone just despised gl so much they wanted to snap everything out of existence and start fresh. And the spectrum really does not fit into the old lore. They all either use their willpower to shape their emotions or the ring forces it’s will onto them. Yellow lanterns will the fear from others into constructs.

Red lanterns will their rage into objects. Shouldn’t red be weak to indigo? And if green lanterns are picked because they have enough willpower to overcome fear then shouldn’t yellow be weak to green? And why is will even part of it? Will is not an emotion! If anything it should be a component of every ring. Why is red weak to blue? Hope has no effect on anger.

What about other emotions? How much of the difference between rings is inherent to the color and how much is chosen by the makers? If yellow and blue chose lanterns for instilling the emotion in others does that mean you can make a red ring that picks someone that makes people mad? And some of the interactions between rings does not make sense.

On the other hand it’s taken way too far and paradoxically not explored enough. And in many ways it’s used to great effect. To be honest I’m kinda mixed on the whole emotional spectrum thing.
